Mr. Yuanyong Long

Executive Director & Founding Parter


Before founding Tensoren, Mr. Long was Vice President of the Weather & Energy team at Swiss Re Corporate Solutions. Mr. Long was one of the earliest insurance professionals promoting weather solutions in China. He successfully structured a series of innovative transactions, including:

 -  the first rainfall index solution for a listed hydropower company. The transaction won the Weather Deal of the Year award by Environmental Finance in 2012

 -  the first wind index solution for a wind farm in one of the big power generation groups in China. The client benefited from the solution in the very first year

 -  the first temperature index solution for an aquaculture farm, and various temperature index solutions for some retail and corporate clients

 -  the first solar index solution for a solar plant, which again won the Weather Deal of the Year award in 2014 and was replicated with dozens of other clients

 -  various typhoon and wind index solutions

  

While working as Agriculture Underwriter, he introduced an alternative database and innovated the pricing methods, which enabled Swiss Re to grow its agriculture portfolio significantly and to become the largest foreign agricultural insurer in China. During his 11 years working at Swiss Re, Mr. Long successfully structured and executed a series of innovative transactions, two of which were considered as the ground-breaking cases featured in the annual reports of the firm.

  

Mr. Long acted as Advisor for the World Bank on several hydropower projects and delivered speeches on hydrological risks at the Africa Climate Resilient Infrastructure Summit III 2018 and various other international conferences. In 2017, Mr. Long attended the World Economic Forum as a member of the Swiss Re delegation.

  

Mr. Long worked as Credit Analyst as Bank of Shanghai from 2002 to 2005. He obtained his Bachelor degree in Engineering at Hangzhou Dianzi University, Master degree in Economics at East China Normal University in China, and MBA degree at University St. Gallen in Switzerland.

Mr. Qunzhi Zhang

Quantitative Advisor


Mr. Zhang was a founding partner of the Switzerland based investment fund SIMAG, which managed two funds for Credit Suisse. He was the Head Research & Development, responsible for the investment strategy and the corresponding IT infrastructure development.

  

Mr. Zhang is an expert in machine learning and modelling complex systems. he was a Senior Researcher at ETH Zurich from 2014 to 2018. He developed the financial crisis observatory and did research in predicting extreme events in financial markets, reverse engineering financial markets with agent-based models and developing quantitative investment strategies. Before studying and working at ETH Zurich, he had worked as a software product manager and engineer for more than 10 years, developing complex software products.

  

Mr. Zhang received his PhD in Econophysics and his Master’s degree in Management, Technology and Economics from ETH Zurich in Switzerland. He got his bachelor’s degree from the East China University of Technology and Science in China. He won the first class prize in the National Mathematical Olympiad of China in 1991.

Mr. Tao Lin

System Architecture


Mr. Lin is a Software Engineer at Credit Suisse, where his responsibility includes developing the Mongoose Foreign Exchange Deal Router, the crucial path of Credit Suisse foreign exchange trading flow.

  

Mr. Lin has strong financial background and more than 20 years’ working experience in developing large scale systems for renown international companies such as Matsushita, Reuters, CitiGroup, Google, and Credit Suisse etc.

  

Mr. Lin developed the Exin Re Pricing Tool (ERPT), a software tool for pricing reinsurance treaties, where he innovated the way for users to create pricing models and automated data import and export routines. He also created innovative method to deliver ERPT to users in the company network, and integrated ERPT with other underwriter system (SICS). The ERPT system was considered one of the crucial competitiveness of Exin Re.

  

During his work at Google, he designed the MDx Vertical Client Library, a shared library running on both Android and iOS platforms by various YouTube Mobile apps. He was a member of the Google Merchant Center Web Portal team, a global web portal serving online merchants and providing them with detailed information about their shopping products advertisement.

  

Mr. Lin obtained his Bachelor degree at Peking University in China, and Master degree in Computer Science at New Jersey Institute of Technology in the United States.


Mr. Weihua Fang

Advisor on Risk Modelling


Mr. Fang is a professor at Beijing Normal University. His research focus includes loss adjustment for natural catastrophes, risk assessment and modelling of natural catastrophe risks. He won the Second Class Prizes of The State Scientific and Technological Progress Award once, and various other Scientific and Technological awards at ministry and provincial levels.

  

Mr. Fang led various state and provincial level scientific research projects. His research results were put into practice in various ministries and provinces. He participated in the risk assessment of many natural disasters in China and abroad, including the Wenchuan Earthquake, Ya’An Earthquake, Nepal Earthquake and Eguaduor Earthquake. He worked as advisor for various projects at the World Bank and the United Nations Development Programme.

  

Mr. Fang developed various risk database and modelling systems for natural disasters, which became the core and founding stone of the natural disaster risk management system of many insurers, reinsurers and brokers.

  

Mr. Fang obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from Central China Normal University, Master of Science degree from Beijing Normal University in China, and PhD degree in Environmental Science at Nagoya University in Japan.
